The Mexican boxing legend is set to fight for the IBF, WBC and WBO super-middleweight titles, and will be competing in Saudi Arabia for the first time.
Canelo has defended his place as the undisputed king of the 168lbs division for years but had his IBF belt stripped for initially refusing to face Scull, who was the mandatory challenger.
Instead, he beat Edgar Berlanga last September, and Scull claimed the IBF title in full, so Canelo is seeking to unify the division once more.
He has already signed a fight with Terence Crawford, who is set to step up in weight to face Canelo later this year, as long as he beats Scull.
Meanwhile, this is a massive opportunity for his American opponent, who can become just the third person to beat Canelo in his illustrious career.

Canelo vs Scull will take place at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday 3 May. Timings for the event are yet to be announced, but the undercard is expected to begin around 6pm BST (10am PT, 12pm CT, 1pm ET), with main-event ring walks at approximately 10pm BST (2pm PT, 4pm CT, 5pm ET).

Bud is approaching his 38th birthday, but he still feels more than able to compete.
Speaking about his future, he said: "I'm going to retire from boxing before I let boxing retire me."
"I always said that. I'm going to retire on my own terms and I'm going to feel good because everything that I did, I did it my way.
"Whether it took me however many years to get to the point where I am at; I did it my way."
Meanwhile, Eddie Hearn thinks he's worked out why Canelo picked Scull.
He said: "I think one of the problems around the whole situation was that the fight with Crawford was agreed, but there wasn't one agreed for May, and Canelo wanted to fight in May.
"There weren't many options, but by beating Scull you can become undisputed."
