Subriel Matias will attempt to make his second successful defense of the IBF junior welterweight championship when he takes Liam Paro on Saturday, live worldwide on DAZN.
It'll be a homecoming fight for Puerto Rican Matias, who hasn't fought in his home country since securing the strap early last year. The 31-year-old was most recently in action in November 2023, when he made his first title defense against Shohjahon Ergashev.
Matias will be facing an unbeaten boxer in Paro, who beat Montana Love back in December to set up his first world title bout.
Here's all you need to know ahead of Matias vs. Paro.
The first fight of the night is scheduled to start at 7.30 p.m. ET / 12.30 a.m. UK (Sunday). The main event is expected to take place at 10.50 p.m. ET / 3.50 a.m. UK time but this may change depending on the length of fights on the undercard.
"We’ve worked on some game plans, Alfie has the best boxing IQ in the game, I won’t share too much but obviously I’m not going to stand a trade with the guy," Paro said.
"That’s what he’s banking on, but my boxing IQ is up there as well and we’re going to box the guy.
"If it has to be a fight, it can be a fight too, I’ve got the dog in me. I’ve been lucky to win my other fights comfortably but I’ve got that in me and I’m ready for anything."
Paro also claimed that his ability to adjust to whatever his opponent throws at him will give him the edge in a fight which will take place in the middle of a hostile atmosphere.
“I can adjust on the fly, I’ve got a lot of ability and a high boxing IQ, so I just don’t think he’s boxed anyone with my style," Paro continued.
"Yes, he’s boxed good opponents, and I’ve not boxed anyone like him before, so we’re going to see on the night how it all pans out.”
