‘Super’ Dan Azeez will fight Rocky Fielding for the vacant Commonwealth light-heavyweight championship title when they battle on the beach at the Bournemouth International Center on Saturday, December 17th. In the fight before Christmas, hometown hero Chris Billam-Smith takes on international challenger Armend Xhoxhaj as he looks to take a step closer towards a cruiserweight world title shot in 2023. But there promises to be a storm by the sea for the chief support as British light heavyweight champion Azeez and Liverpudlian Fielding collide.

Azeez (17-0, 11 KOs) displayed his class of him in September when he outshone Shakan Pitters on Merseyside. But the Londoner faces arguably the toughest test of his career to date as he looks to protect his flawless record against experienced world-level campaigner Fielding (30-2-0, 17 KOs) – whose only-ever defeats have come against Canelo Alvarez and Callum Smith.

Joining Azeez and Fielding on the bill is lightweight star Cori Gibbs, who faces Irish fighter Victor Rabei. The Birmingham fighter, 29, is unbeaten with an impressive record of 17-0 (3 KOs). Steven 'Drago' Robinson (5-1-0, 3 KOs) will look to upset the undefeated 'Glasgow Warrior' Nick Campbell (5-0, KOs) when the hard-hitting heavyweights meet on the undercard.

When Is Azeez Vs Fielding?

Dan Azeez is set to square off against Rocky Fielding on Saturday 17th December 2022 at Bournemouth International Centre in Bournemouth.

The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds in the Light Heavyweight division, which means the weight limit will be 175 pounds (12.5 stone or 79.4 KG).

This fight will appear on the undercard of Chris Billam-Smith's and Armend Xhoxhaj's clash.

The fighters are expected to ringwalk at around 9:00 PM GMT at Bournemouth International Centre, Bournemouth, United Kingdom, which is 4:00 PM EST or 1:00 PM PST on the West Coast of America.

What has been Said?

Fielding: “He’s getting the momentum because he has the Sky deal behind him, so there is a bit of a hype on him, I have experience and I don’t think he has been in with anyone who can hit as hard as me. It is a good fight.”

“I was ticking over in the gym and a text came through saying: 'Do you want to fight Dan Azeez for the British title?' I said: 'Yeah'. As I said, I have won it at super-middleweight and I can win it at light-heavyweight. A two-time British champion at two different weights is a goal for me.”

Azeez: “He’s been a pro from before I started as an amateur boxer, I’ve got a lot of respect for Rocky. He’s a good boxer and he can punch – he has got more knockouts than I have had fights. “I like to fight on the inside so I’m either going down or I’ll keep coming, one of the two.”

“All I’m thinking about is the fight ahead of me – which is Rocky Fielding,” said Azeez. “Rocky is trying to get his name back in the mix – it would be foolish of me, and in a slight way disrespectful, to be looking beyond our fight.”
