Riku Kano and Anthony Olascuaga will compete for the vacant WBO world flyweight championship as part of a stacked card in Tokyo.
Southpaw Kano has an experience advantage over the American, who will only be competing in his eighth fight as a professional, but by rankings, there is only one place between the fighters.
Here's everything you need to know ahead of Riku Kano vs. Anthony Olascuaga.
- Date: Saturday, July 20
- Start time: 10 a.m. UK / 5 a.m. ET
- Main event: 1 p.m. UK / 8 a.m. ET
The event is due to begin at around 10 a.m. UK time / 5 a.m. ET, with the main event ringwalks due to begin at approximately 1 p.m. UK time / 8 a.m. ET. This could change depending on the length of fights on the undercard.
WBO super flyweight champion Kosei Tanaka of Soul Box Hatanaka Boxing Gym will face 12th-ranked Jonathan Rodriguez of Mexico also for his first defense of the title he captured in February.
Kano has been stopped in two of his four defeats and Olascuaga has the power to cause some damage. This has the potential to be a very interesting fight between two youngsters and it’s certainly a hard call. I think if Olascuaga catches Kano with his power shots though he has a better chance of emerging with the vacant belt.
