Vasyl Lomachenko will look to continue his climb back to world title contention when he takes on Jamaine Ortiz at Madison Square Garden this weekend.
Lomachenko lost to Teofimo Lopez in 2020 but has since bounced back with victories over Masayoshi Nakatani and Richard Commey. ‘The Matrix’ was one of the best in the business before his defeat to Lopez and is a former world champion in three weight classes. He is now eager to secure another title shot as soon as possible and must take care of Ortiz. The American is unbeaten in his career so far and beat Jamel Herring last time out.

The card will get going at midnight on the night with Lomachenko vs Ortiz expected from 4am on Sunday morning.
Lomachenko vs Ortiz: What’s been said?
Jamaine Ortiz: “I’m excited about this fight. Vasyl Lomachenko is a great fighter, but I’m here to win.
“Once I win this fight, I’m targeting a world title opportunity. This is a dream come true.
“I still got a lot of work to do. I’m just growing and going at the pace I’m going. I gotta learn quick, and I gotta pick things up a little bit.
“I’m not afraid of challenges, and I’m here to prove that I’m the best to myself, not anyone else.”
